Credits said something about being based on actual events?

Saw the movie recently and was actually pretty good, much better than I had expected.

But, the point of this post is about what it said at the end of the credits--that the movie was based partially on actual events. This was a little surprising and I did a few searches to try to find further info but found nothing. Anyone know anything about this?
