it's being released as a summer blockbuster type. he hasn't done many of those in recent years.

He probably liked the script.

Many actors will play *beep* roles in *beep* movies if you offer them enough money.

Often when you're at Jakes level you get to pick two films you like and then have to do one film the studio wants you to do.
