I liked it

Any of you people seen Zola? I watched it today and enjoyed it. Directed by Janicza Bravo, the film stars Taylour Paige and Riley Keough as two strippers who go on a crazy road trip to Florida. It's based on a twitter thread. I really liked the look and feel of the film. Zola is fast paced, fun, and has some great laugh out loud moments and great dialogue ("I fuck with Jesus!") My rating is an 8/10.

Me too.

It's a fun, light-hearted suspence-thriller, if that makes any sense.

Zola's a hell of a story-teller.

I don't even care if it's partially fake, it's entertaining.

i caught it this afternoon.

i have to admit i kinda struggled to get into it, but i think that was really hampered by a bad sound mix in the theatre. i think i barely made out 40% of the dialogue, and when i could make it out, it felt like real work to understand what people were saying.

i'm willing to withhold my final judgment until i get a chance to rewatch it at home with a good set of headphones and subtitles.

Fair enough. I think this is the type of film where it is important to be able to catch all of the dialogue to be able to completely appreciate and enjoy it. I watched it on my tv after renting it from the iTunes store and didn't have any issues with the sound.

Riley Keough was really good in this.

As it seemed to strain to get to 90mins, I think it would've worked better as a 20-ish min short. And some style points, but it needed more story and a deeper dive into our protagonist -- ie, more Zola in a film called Zola.
