This guy is responsible for thousands of losers on YouTube

The #1 reason why I loathe CutiePie is that he taught tens of thousands of slackers that it's okay to make a living creating YouTube videos by doing absolutely nothing except play video games on camera and glom off other people's IPs. It's gotten so bad that every so often when a company cracks down on copyright violation, you'll have a million of these losers post videos on YouTube whining about how their "livelihoods" are being threatened. Yes, that's right--playing games and making goofy faces as you do is now a "livelihood."

When the gravy train ends on YT and millions of adult children subsisting on this "livelihood" need to be gainfully employed again but can't (because you can't put "played video games" on your resume), is CutiePie going to take responsibility for that? Is he going to create some kind of relief fund for all these twenty-somethings who grew up watching him as preteens and teenagers?

 So true. And they all try and hide behind "Fair Use", yet none of them will admit to the fact that YouTube is hosting their videos (for free!) while they collect tons of money off of ad revenue.

It's funny, when you tell them that if they feel their rights are violated, that they can go host elsewhere. They all claim the same thing, that YouTube offers the most views...

The thing with PDP, he's 1 in 7 billion. The odds of another success story like his are slim, very slim. You have better odds winning the lottery.

Uh oh. Something tells me you saw that whiny "Fair Use" video put out by the Nostalgia Critic. 

Exactly. His success was a complete and utter fluke.

Even worse is that the only reason why he became so huge is that he's photogenic, charismatic, comes across as the "cool kid" that everyone wants to be around, and appeals to children. There were literally hundreds of other YouTubers who were doing Let's Plays for years before he jumped on the bandwagon--YouTubers, I might add, who were far more creative and entertaining than he was. They also were more authentic; they never faked their reactions. How come they never became big? Because most of them either looked like typical video game geeks or were young adults appealing to the college age crowd.

It's amazing to me that a bunch of scruffy, pimply-faced geeks with greasy skin and nasally voices keep thinking, "Hey, I can be as successful as CutiePie," not realizing that they will never see the success of a kid who got to where he is because he's attractive and considered "cool" amongst the junior high crowd. But that's what many of these geeks are doing. Many of them have actually quit their real life jobs to do YouTube 24/7 in the hopes that some day they'll be making $2M a year. I wish someone would smack some sense into them, but I guess they need to learn the hard way that they have no shot in hell in becoming the next PewDiePie.

Not only that, he banned me from commenting. (Love the irony of being censored by him in a video where he's whining about... being censored).

Seriously though, wasn't that one of the most pathetic things you've ever seen?

Not once did he refer to any of the proceeds he's made. Or even talk about paying for his own website to host his videos. It's all "I'm a victim, youtube doesn't play nice" whining. Literal whining.

That's basically it. He got in at a good time (despite there already being gamers like you mentioned), but was able to put a face with his name. I'd wager, a number of his subscribers are kids who couldn't get their parents to buy the games for them... so they just watched him.

Many of them have actually quit their real life jobs to do YouTube 24/7 in the hopes that some day they'll be making $2M a year.
It's so sad too. Sure, some of them make money, but not what they'd make at an actual job. A lot of them are still on their parents insurance plans too... which once they hit 26 will be a different story for them.

Youtube's fine as a hobby; very few should ever consider it a profession.

Hi, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.

Yes, that was very pathetic of him to do that. Most of those YouTubers are pathetic. I lost a lot of respect for them over the years because of this stuff. They're basically one step above panhandlers (note all the links to Patreon now), but they're acting like making videos on YouTube is a real career. No, it is what it is, kids too lazy to work for a living or untalented to break out into show business panhandling on YouTube.

That's exactly what it is!

And you are dead on with the panhandling. Hey, if your videos were any good on their own, you wouldn't need youtube. (They all choose youtube because it has the most traffic). They could easily... pay to start their own site!

All of the "click on my patreon" or "check out my twtich channel" shouts are so tiresome. I really can't wait until youtube actually does crack down on all of the copyrighted content.

Oh and I actually meant his video in general was pathetic. And he now has 3 up about it! Heaven forbid he'd need to actually... get a job!
