Some things misfired (spoilers)

I generally liked it. I loved seeing the characters and that world recreated again.

But why does the 32-year old Rory still make such bad choices? Friends with Benefits? One night stands with strangers? It cheapens or nullifies everything she learned over the seven seasons.

In Fall, the 48-year old Lorelai is still capable of flip outs at that level? Has she learned nothing? That whole phone call to her mother was not predicated on anything and just a mawkish failure. I just turned it off at that point.

The Luke and Lorelai characters have zero chemistry with one another anymore, which really casts a weird pall over the ending.

Winter and Spring were the best episodes. The ending of Fall just left me with emptiness.

I agree, Gilmore Girls: AYITL was just bad fan fiction compared to the finale season of the OG series.

I think the one-night stand thing was to facilitate the ending. In other words, they establish that Rory screws anyone (even men in Chewbacca suits) then at the end, they bring back Logan, Jess and Dean... then they reveal she's pregnant.

The idea being to encourage the audience to believe any one of them could be the father (cos she's a slut who sleeps around, you see).

Lorelai doing 'Wild' was absurd and felt utterly out of character.

Rory and Lorelai are still the same spoiled and self-obsessed women as they always were.

Zac seems to have aged twenty years. Taylor hasn't aged at all.

What the fuck is going on with Luke's hair?

reply

I wouldn't deny Lorelai the ability to change, especially when it's as simple as taking up a new hobby.

The greatest misfire was this series ever gaining a fanbase to begin with

They stand on their high horse with cum on their shorts.
