Lorelai blowing Jess a kiss

I thought hell would freeze over before that happened

reply

That was weird.

They never did address the state of their relationship. Last time Lorelai reacted to him in the original series, it was with animosity.

reply

You have to understand that continuity and consistency was never a high priority with this show...

reply

Who says I didn't know that already?

reply

Not to mention over nine years have passed...

I 4/4 don't care.

Weird thing she acted like things were still frosty with him at the cemetery... I guess thats all over? I mean what does she have to be mad at really besides a few moments he made as a teen.

-Who is it?
-It's Grandpa. And it sounds like he's gotten into the horseradish again.

reply

Yeah, it was weird because in the cemetery when his name came up, it seemed like she still disliked him. I almost feel like that was more a moment between Lauren and Milo lol.

reply

I don't think her getting angry at the cemetery was directed at him so much as it was just the book idea in general.

reply

I agree. And her remembering the bad relationship she had with him when he and Rory dated as teens. Thinking of that retold on top of everything else just added to her knee-jerk emotional reaction. Lorelai blowing Jess a kiss made me really happy. I think they'll always bicker (like an early Luke and Lorelai) but in the almost decade that's passed, Jess has matured and gotten his crap together better than anyone. He's great to and grateful for his Uncle. Again he helped set Rory on the right path. He's grown up to be a great guy and I always wanted to see he and Lorelai get on good/friendly terms and that moment signified that to me.

Somehow that's even creepier, given the fact that Alexis and Milo dated for four years back when the show was on.

reply

Well, if it was - it was definitely platonic - like friends.

reply

Dang it i missed this scene could you describe when it happened please

reply

I didn't see that part, but just the thought of that occurring is kind of unfathomable to me, because not only does that seem like something Lorelai wouldn't do(except maybe ironically) it just seems icky. I dunno. I've never been a huge fan of the blowing kisses things. Leave that to pageant contestants and five year olds.

Wildcattin'...Wildcattin'. Pow! I'm gonna go.

reply

I don't really agree with those who say it's weird, it's a very casual moment and gesture, not really that personal or anything.
