I doubt this include any supernatural elements ... or anything else experimental, but it's basically selling itself as a soap opera set around a tragic murder in a small idyllic town

... not that there's anything wrong with that

That might not be the case. Remember that "Sabrina The Teenage Witch" and her aunts were part of the Archie comic books (and eventually got a separate comic book series). I'm not saying that there will be any supernatural things, since I just found out that this show is based on the Archie comic books, but they are including Josie and The Pussycats, who where also in the Archie comic books, and then branched off onto their own comics.
