Making Archie realistic just showcases how much of a jerk he is
The trailer almost makes him seem like a villain!

Why is he a jerK?
When I read the comics in the 1970s and 1980s (ok, and the 1990s) Archie was all mixed up.
Sometimes he was a genius hero and sometimes he was a complete klutz and jerk who kept messing things up for Mr Lodge.
Not a very coherent personality, that's for sure. They seemed to push the "nice boy next door" side of Archie the most, though.
