This reminds me of...

Of course this reminds me of the whole Amanda Knox situation over in Italy. I was captivated with that story and followed it the whole time. It was just bizarre. Which makes this series more appealing. I was intrigued the whole episode. Obviously we haven't seen enough to come up with our own solid suspects or theories...But the show sure made a lineup at the end of the episode(cheesy). I thought it was well written and not too cheesy or over the top. I enjoyed the cast. I love the cop. When he was on the roof, I was like heck yeah I was thinking the same thing. The characters are likeable. I don't really like the boyfriend(Luc?) he gives me the creeps, but I think that's the point. I definitely going to watch the next episode. I hope this stays good and doesn't turn into some stupid Pretty Little Liars crap. I really want this to be a good series.

Yes! I checked this board because that's what I was this board for! I'm only about 10 minutes in.

Did you like it?

Pretty Little Liars is a successful show, isn't it? I've only seen bits of it, but I know it's better than this. This show wishes it were as good as PLL, and PLL is crap.

Guilt is of the summer soap genre, but it's not trashy enough to be interesting. Its aspirations TO trashiness are laughable, and not in a good way; they're cringeworthy. It's as though the show is ashamed of itself, of its own existence. And it should be.

It's not earnest or ironic, though it tries to be both and fails. It takes itself far too seriously at times, and neither the story not the characters are intriguing or powerful enough to do that and get away with it. That guy from Buffy couldn't help this at all, which was rather surprising. And, although Billy Zane did add something, it's not nearly enough to make me want to continue viewing.

I watched fifteen minutes of this show, one of which enabled me to know for certain that it will soon be canceled. I soldiered through the remaining fourteen to give my review more credibility; I suppose "soldiered" might be hyperbolic, as the show wasn't pure torture, just boring enough to make me want to throw myself out a window. And when I wasn't bored, I was cringing with embarrassment for everyone involved in the show, but mostly for Zane, who could be doing something so much better with his talent and time.

I'd be surprised if it's still on the air in two weeks.

The major difference between the Knox affair and this TV show is that it was obvious from the beginning that Knox was a murderer.

reply

Obvious is an overstatement. The Italian Justice system is known to be the worst in Europe. Not only did they solely focus on Knox, but they really had no evidence tying her to the crime scene. So whether she did it or not, the Italian government railroaded her from the beginning so we'll never really know what happened.

Where did you get the idea that the italian justice system is "known" to be the worst in Europe? They brought entire criminal organizations to their knees and that's more than you can say of other countries' risible attempts to do the same.

I felt the same way. My first thought was of Amanda Knox. I almost felt like it was this wierd attempt to somehow retell the story. I still find myself feeli g a little that way though the story is starting to diverge some from the events in Italy...even so...it's a wierd parallel.
