I feel like I watched a trailer for this a year ago. I've been seeing promo pieces for this on the web and elsewhere for just as long, yet IMDb says it's coming to theaters in "January 2017"? It's already been in theaters hasn't it? Or was that just its festival run? omg...
It played in limited release in about the 4-5 biggest North American markets over the fall time and has been circulating is on arthouse/independent screens in more recent weeks. I think it has but one showing left in all of Canada this week when its run concludes here in Toronto. I see that it's also only playing once per day in NY as well.
So you may not get to see it in theaters, but Criterion has it on blu and deev and their release date is Feb 7.

I wish more docs would release Blu-Ray versions because there are so many that deserve the treatment. Plus, the margins on Blu-Ray are usually a little higher than DVD, so it's a win-win, right?
Two docs I've seen recently that would look amazing on Blu-ray: Rich Hill, and, The Other Side. Both have incredible cinematography, and both were shot on 5K RED cameras.
