The bug out of the mouth scene.....YUCK!

that scene was awesomely disgusting! lol. i am really loving this show!

reply

I think it was a millipede. Great writing and storytelling.

I totally agree...I was right with her...yikes...poor girl...I'm lovin' this show too!

If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions.

that was hard to watch an unexpected. Creepy. Lol

I get a smaller version of those in my house pretty frequently, and they scare me.

My cat ate one and her lip swelled up really big. I had to give her half a Benadryl to get the swelling down. It took half an hour to get that pill down her throat, and I came away from the experience covered in cat spit and bloody for my efforts.

Now I kill them in the hopes that she won't tangle with them again.

Creepy little bastards.

My cat plays with them but won't eat them. So gross!! They were huge in this scene!!

Centipede's and millipedes are poisonous, they won't do much to humans (except hurt like a mosquito from a small one, to feeling like a big pinch with possible puncture on the ones the size they use in the show), but are used to stun their prey. I am sorry about your cat, thankfully it only had a swollen lip.

reply

Yeah, I figured it was equivalent to a bee sting.
Looking it up, I read they have a venom claw, and the venom is a paralyzing agent they use for hunting (and defense apparently).

My main concern was her comfort through the affair, and I used the Diphenhydramine in case she had an allergic reaction that was more extreme than the swelling. An ounce of prevention, as the saying goes..

RevengeServedCOLD, my god! i'm sorry you and your cat went through that with the insect! i hope the cat (and you too of course! ) is ok now. :)

reply

Yup! We're doing well. She was recovered completely in about a day.
It's good to see you, Jett!

I really dug the Split Pea Soup refrence too. Those cheeky writers. ;)

reply

Yeah, I thought the split pea soup nod was great, too! So far, all of the references/homages that the show has made to the film and novel have been quite successful. They don't feel forced or derivative, and they occur naturally within the new story that the show's writers are telling. As a die-hard fan of both the novel and film I really appreciate that.

reply

Arrgh I hate the damn things...why do they need so many legs to creep about on? It just should not be allowed...its not right...eurgh!

and a nod to the prequel, where a military man spew a butterfly.

It was a great scene. She "the demon" knew the water was tainted and kept putting the glass almost near her mouth. Then after they cheered and clinked their glasses, she had no choice but to take a sip of water, after which she gives a slight glance to her mom, then drinks half the glass down as if it nothing. Then makes an excuse of having to study (after their soup dinner) and barely makes it to her toilet. That is how I would expect a demon to act. Great homage to the movie. I am guessing the red millipedes are the manifestation of the evil into a physical form. Great but gross scene.

The scene with the pillow is gross!
