A once great critic site that compromised their integrity

I can't recall the last time I looked at rottentomatoes.com. I used to visit their site several times a week to see what critics were stating about upcoming movies and to check out the board conversations among fans. It was my "go to" site always for movie feedback and commentary. I loved it. There you could find a large collection of diverse thoughts and opinions and fortunately, they didn't always agree. It was a feature of the site that made it the best critic site and a force in Hollywood too.

No more.

Almost overnight, rottentomatoes.com changed their format, seemingly to be more corporate sensitive. It quickly became obvious that those running rottentomatoes.com were making site changes, discontinuing features and deleting fan commentaries as a sop to conglomerate movie studios.

Now some people will say "what's the big deal, just go to another site." And I get that argument. But when you've spent a lot of time on one critic site you really liked and been an active member, it's hard to just drop that site and go elsewhere. Competitors like metacritic.com haven't vastly reworked their site to please big studios, yet they weren't my original site of choice when trying to decide on seeing a new movie or taking part in a vibrant fan community.

Rottentomatoes.com built a brand that was trusted. They wrecked all that trust by turning on their fan community. In the process, they are no longer the force in Hollywood that they once were.

I hope it was worth it to them.

You embrace the Borg or be crushed by the Borg.

Just take a look at their 91% fresh ginger e "The Suicide Squad (2021)" and you know that it's a shill site these days.

Metacritic critic scores is the only way to go, baby! (Besides word of mouth from friends with good taste)

They also added shitload of unknown critics because "diversity" recently. Only look at "top critics" percentage!
