Michael Gladis as a gangster....

...made me turn it off immediately. I couldn't take Gladis seriously one bit. The writers try to pass him off as scary and intimidating. What a joke.

Seriously why cast this guy as a mafiosa?? So unengaging and not believable at all.

reply

It is mind-boggling. Kermit the Frog would have been a more frightening option.

I really hate the whole mobster story line... it's just a stupid, stereotypical Hollywood idea. A show about the drama and trials of opening a restaurant is what I want to see. It doesn't need this added stupidness. I'm watching the pilot now but am pretty sure that will be it.

reply

I fully agree with you. I couldn't make it past the first 20 minutes.

ya hated that part and that the chef is a coke head! so over done!

reply

Completely agree! When he pulled out the pliers because he's 'the tooth fairy', and then did nothing but slap the video poker machine apart..... Eyes rolled hard. I haven't made it past that part.

The frustrating thing is that the gangster is still the most interesting character, by virtue of not being as bland. Compared to the leads, he jumps off the screen (to damn him with faint praise).

The Pillsbury Doughboy in Ghostbusters was scarier...

Baaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha! Best response yet!

Wow; strange. Guess I'm alone - I find him really frightening! You just don't know what he's capable of.

I find him menacing... somewhat. It's his dad who scares the hell out of me.

In the Tooth Fairy's defense, he doesn't really want the role of crime boss. His heart is elsewhere. He's doing it for his dad.

I got the impression that he was AMC's attempt at Wilson Fisk. But they just couldn't make him menacing.
