My thoughts on The Passion

I wasn't even sure I was going to watch this. After all, I remember going to see Julius Caesar as a teen years ago and they modernized it with guns. I didn't like it at all. Anyway I told my mom I was going to watch it and if I didn't like it I would just turn it off.

That being said I thought the modern version of The Passion was done very well. I was thinking to myself, maybe this is what our modern times need. It was the same story as it is told in The Passion of the Christ, but told in a way that maybe people today can relate to. I have been a born again Christian since I was 8. I saw nothing wrong with this at all. And if this is what it takes to bring more people to Jesus, so be it. After all, it's really no different than CS Lewis' The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, which, after all, is another telling of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. I actually had tears sliding down my cheeks as I watched it. The new meanings of the songs that were put into it... wow, there are no words.

I think Tyler Perry said it best - if Jesus had come today this is very much what likely would have happened. I mean, he was a religious zealot in the eyes of those who didn't believe and didn't like what he did. His disciples were looked down upon by others because they followed Him. People thought they were all a little weird. They were non-conformists and that's generally frowned upon.

Did I think the modern version of it took away from the wonderful message? Not at all. The people who were meant to hear the message and understand it did or will. There were people that God spoke to tonight, who have been called by Him. There's a reason why this happened. Only God knows what the end result will be, and that is all that matters.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

That is what The Passion is all about. Whether it takes place in 2016 or two thousand years ago, the message is still the same. God loves you and wants to save you. All you have to do is believe and accept His gift of salvation.

I loved it and I agree with what you said. I was moved to tears during the song Demons... (have always had a soft spot for Judas...) My only criticism is the commercial interruption and the lady interviewing people on the route with the cross... I thought it took away from the story... if they do it again I hope they polish it up with no interruptions.
