So first I was hoping they wouldn't kill off Miranda Otto's character, but they did... Then I was hoping John Donovan's father would turn into some sinister mastermind, but he didn't... Then I was hoping they'd at least mention 'Jack Bauer' or some other familiar tie-in with the original series, but they never did...
Argh. Probably the weakest finale in the series, and what's with the 12 hour skip, why not just do another 12 episodes or rename the show 12.
I don't remember them well enough to compare, but the season ended up okay. Jimmy Smits is the new President Palmer, Carter is the new Jack... and Tony's still floating around somewhere. It would be more in the spirit of 24 if his wife left him for his brother... but, I suppose they want to try something different. I never cared for Rebecca so I'm fine with a new strong female character to take her place. Wasn't great, but decent enough that I'll watch the next one.
The last season was short so I fully expected only 12 episodes.
It was pretty weak. And boring. This whole season was more about setting up the future of the show rather than being good tv. Well, the pilot is finally over. Maybe next year the show will start.
