Spoilers inside - I admit it, I cried!

I've enjoyed this new take on the show but it wasn't until the last episode of the season (Season 1) that I popped to attention. I cried. I got angry and I cried. Spoilers (for some, I'm sure) follow so don't read if you haven't watched it all yet.

Victor. The bastard! What he did to Elena at her quince!! To show up and then sneak out, leaving her alone on the dance floor.

It's a fairly lighthearted show, lots of just being silly but damn that Victor!

I just finished the final episode and I cried too.
But mostly I cried when Lupe came up to Elena to dance with her and then Alex and Lydia. But then I laughed a little bit when Schneider came and laughed a lot when the Doc came up.

I so agree with you on this one. The new Schneider isn't funny. At all. Tries too hard. IIRC, in the original, Schneider tried to put the make on the mom (right?) but then became good friends with the family. But he wasn't rich, he was the maintenance man of the building.

I cried too especially when the family came up. That was nice.

I think victor wasnt able to accept elena as a lesbian and his reaction towards seeing elena in the suit even though she looked great proved that. That was really cold of him to bail on his daughter.

While also a sitcom, the original ODaaT tackled serious subjects too.

I'm glad they wrote Victor that way because many Hispanic fathers would react the same way. I'm Puerto Riacan and have seen this reaction in my own extended family and friends' families a few times. I think Victor also feels guilty because he was gone for a whole year and he blames himself for Elena.

that was awful of him I don't see how she could forgive him.
