Netflix's Version

So I was interested to see this show as I had been a fan of the old one from 1975. I think I have read some where that even that version doesn't have much love, but I thought it was great. I was lucky to have caught a re-run of all the episodes a couple of years ago. It had been my understanding there wasn't much of this released on DVD. I'm currently watching the new one and it does nothing for me. I just can't get into it. I do like that the apartment lay out is the same but I can't see all that much more similarity. They have a son on this one, and the grandmother lives with them.
Oh but they do use the old school theme song.
