Subtle highlights I think. Plus (although her low mood has a very horrific cause and I am not saying a simple hairdo would eradicate her blues in this instance)for many women a case of the low level blues is banished when you get your hair done or it at least makes you feel better.

I think she went to the salon to make herself feel a bit better, not a change of style.
