Not HBO quality. Poorly made documentary.

I had never heard of this story before, or the Slenderman, and saw an advertisement for this which looked great but it was pretty bad. This was made for Youtube quality at best. It reminded me of something a home user may put on the internet.

It was slow and poorly constructed. It jumped all over with huge gaps on other subjects. At one point you're watching the story, which is not told well, and then it jumps to clips of Bill Gates and these mini segments.

Worst documentary I've seen in a long time. It's too bad the story seemed interesting. The whole thing just felt cheap.

I have to disagree slightly with this. Those clips were there to cover the "Internet Made Me Do It" part of the documentary.

It's ironic how when something catches on in social media, it is described as being "viral" since it does appear to be infectious in nature.

Why do some things like Slender Man, Planking, and the Ice Bucket Challenge take hold in society and some don't? What is it about the internet that causes people to engage in hive mind behavior?

That segment was very important in addressing the behavior of the girls, especially since their respective mental and emotional issues made them even more susceptible.

There is no denying that Morgan and Anissa committed an unspeakable act, but the US would rather lock people away than admit to itself that it really has no clue how to properly address mental illness.

Omg I just shut it off after them showing stupid videos a bunny eating raspberries a cat playing with a mouse WTF was HBO thinking Netflix should have done the document they're much better. This was absolutely horrible

It seemed like one of those 1 1/2 star rated documentaries on Netflix.

I have to agree with the OP. HBO Documentaries...even the doc-style TV shows (that Forensics one comes to mind) always caught my attention and were always well paced and interesting. This one kinda dragged in parts, it felt slow and draggy. It could've been cut down slightly too. At almost 2 hours its TOO long.

It dragged in parts and was also all over the place with subject material. And did the makers of this film really even present a "the girls are lying" counterpoint to the 2 girls involved families? I mean, that's just basic journalism, ethics, and fairness. Ask questions. Unless I missed that part!

And for the one girl's father to say he's "struggled" with Pananoid schizophrenia for years...but it went away...and now it's back...he had it under control...what???? Speaking from purely personal experience, once you go full schizo you don't go back, you just maintain the best you can under the best meds and treatment. I know one person I can think of, was a regular boy until about 13 or so...just started acting "crazy." Would stay up all night cleaning the house, didn't want to go to school. And his own brother was scared of him as several times he came u behind him with a knife ready to cut his throat. And they were best friends and brothers a few years before this.

After many psychiatric trips, he's now in his 20's (or older...dunno) can't work, lives with his mother. Never talks. Huge guy like M. Myers no joke. Came out in adolescence.

Point is I'm no psychiatric doctor but I do know one...haven't seen her in awhile. But neither of us watching this documentary heard of such a thing as recurring Paranoid Schizophrenia. Where you can be fine for months and years then BAM! I'd like to watch it again to get a more accurate description from him, the father. That made us both say "what bullish:t!" which would go with the defense's argument concerning mental health.

If I can find out more I'll let everyone know.
