The Killer's Plan (*spoilers*)

*SPOILERS*
So it turns out the roomate's plan was to poison her, and then also kill her and frame the serial killer guy? If that's her plan then why poison her at all if she's just going to kill her later in the costume and everything? Couldn't she have just killed her and framed the guy without the whole cupcake thing? Am I missing something?

reply

She originally tried to kill her in the first instance of time. But once the lead threw away the cupcake, she had to resort to plan B. Cupcake killing is easier and less risky than stabbing her to death or getting a serial killer involved.

reply

I agree. The cupcake doesn't make sense in relation to the rest of the movie. First of all, if she dies of poisoning, her roommate is going to be number one on the suspect list. Also, what's the purpose of the mask? She'd be able to get closer to her without the mask on, whip out a knife, and end it.

reply

the mask is to frame the serial killer as she made sure he wears that too.

reply

The only people present for the kill are the killer and the victim. Since the killer is obviously assuming the victim is going to die, why would the killer try to frame the serial killer? There weren't any witnesses to say, "Someone in a mask did it."

reply

Its just a precaution, some of her deaths could easily be seen by others in which she have no way of knowing, the original plan to kill her outside( her first death) which can be risky if she doesnt use a mask

reply

I early on noticed the significance of cup cake..

reply

She only ate the cupcake in the cycle when she defeated the killer. In all the other cycles she didn't eat it. So, her roommate had to use plan-b in all the other cycles.

reply

Could it be that the killer also knew about the loop, and wanted to keep the mask on so as not to be exposed?

Since we don't know why time was looping, but maybe the killer did. And we found out that Tree didn't have an infinite number of lives, that the multiple deaths were taking a toll on her. So maybe the killer thought as long as they could get away with it a few dozen times, without Tree taking the mask off, then Tree would die for good.

reply

Wasn't the plan originally to poison her? When Tree refused the cake, the killer had to come up with a Plan B. Which was to let the serial killer free from the hospital she worked, then stab Tree whilst wearing a mask. Everybody would blame the escaped serial killer. (Especially as he seemed to prey exclusively on young women.)

In the original plan, the serial killer was nothing to do with it. He only became part of the plan when Tree refused to eat the poisoned cake.

reply

I think you're probably right
