Who did the bombing
I personally think it is the powerhungry General who keeps insists on blaming and attacking the radicalized muslims.

shareTom Kirkman himself. Disgruntled employee who just been fired goes postal.
Anti-heroes and corrupt politicians is what we've been watching for decades now. Unless this is going to become a cliché-riddled, drawn out version of "Dave". Where Tom Kirkman is just readying himself and stepping up the plate. Rather than a ruthless psychopath playing the timid game and deceiving everyone.
You know what you would rather watch.
But Kirkman doesn't seem to know about it. Unless it is Kirkman's Mr. Robot.
shareIt most likely be a radicalized white supremacist group with tea party following. Or the fall back bad guys Neo-Nazi Eastern Europeans. Hollywood probably won't use Islamist radicals. I say shock everyone and have COBRA or Hydra be responsible for the bombings.
shareDr. Evil
shareTV shows that used Islamic radicals include 24. They even opted to include a public service announcement clarifying that their depiction of Muslims weren't representational.
Other show include Homeland which, for the most part, been pretty smart about it.
Season 10 of X-Files included an episode where Islamic radicals were the bad guys.
I also seem to remember Showtime airing a TV-show called Sleeper Cell.
I think "Hollywood" is more afraid of alienating audiences and losing money by appearing ignorant or even blatantly racist. Plus if you want to watch about Islamic radicals you can always travel to Syria. White supremacist groups are at least not frequent in media.
Although they are real: Anders Behring Breivik or Timoty McVeigh are probably two of the more notorious. So it's not like it would science fiction to use them. Just fictional.
Homeland has been smart and realistic about it. They have not shied away from reality. But at the same time they haven't portrayed all Muslims or even would-be terrorists as unredeemable. This past season there was that one character who tried to save Quinn's life and stopped the attack on the commuter train in Berlin.
shareTrue. But even so Homeland hasn't aired without some criticism. Although, on the other hand, it's quite telling that it's also raised critical voices among conservative pundits for being too liberal.
shareI've actually thought wouldn't it be a trip if it were aliens?
Welcome to the internet, everyone knows everything, and no one likes anything
They will go the terrorist route, because that is what the viewer want to see.
White supremacy and a lousy General do not have enough foot soldiers to pull this off.
I would say some splinter cell in some North African failed state is the best bet. Maybe they have the guts to even use a African country as a joke, and a refreshing change. Something the made up, like "Zamunda" ;)
Just saying it's the show I'd rather watch. Certainly makes for more contemporary TV than a rehash of an old -90's film. The whole deal with unassuming, everyday men stepping up the plate has been done to death.
But if I were to rationalize my irrational thought pattern I would say it's a ruse, of course. He appears meek and oblivious to throw everyone of his scent.
Yes, it would be more interesting. Right now it's almost laughable. The writing, the acting, the nods to 24, (dammit!).
shareI think it would be an incredible twist if we learned that Kirkman orchestrated the bombing so that he would become president.
shareItd be extremely unlikely considering he didn't know about his part being cut from the speech, didn't know he was going to be fired, and didn't know he was the designated survivor until right before he was going to go to the Capitol. He also didn't know what a designated survivor was. So unless he planned to blow himself up..
shareThen he has to have the split personalities with one doesn't know the other's action.
shareUgh. Not a fan of the General. The big blustery military man who just wants to nuke someone, anyone, is such an overused cliche. I realize why his character is needed here, I just wish they had found a more creative way to present the adversary.
shareIt has to be someone with knowledge of how Al-Saqar makes their bombs.
I'm thinking some who is either in or recently gone from the military, FBI, or CIA.
It's not going to be Kirkland. That's just ridiculous and I hope the wife has nothing to do with it either.
shareBut, imo, NO ONE would act on intelligence that, oh, this is just how al sakar makes THEIR bombs! It's ludicrous....a tiny offshoot of al qaeda that goes from suicide vest bombers in local bazaars to taking down the Capitol building? And zero chatter anywhere?
Judging by the slow fireball mushroom cloud, I'm thinking a thermobaric device....you could drop it from as high as 50,000 feet from a glider (tow the glider to 15 miles away at 65,000 feet, let it go), glider signature is basically nil and the device would weigh 30 tons or so, a breeze isn't gonna knock it off course.
And that's military ordnance.
And that's my guess.
May the fuc general
shareIt was Kimble Hookstraten.
shareWho ever did the bombings it will be old, rich, white guys...mark my words.
Anything else would mean the show is racist/sexist.
Welcome to the internet, everyone knows everything, and no one likes anything
Kirkman didn't even know he would be or what a designated survivor would be until he got the call.
My money is on the guy who seems very eager to be his secretary of state
I am now a checkerboard chick!
As someone said, it had to be an inside job. How else could they get that much explosive material inside the Capitol building? It would take a fairly large number of people, too.
Everyone is born crazy. The purpose of life is to become sane.
