Voice-over narrator

Does anyone know who the female voice-over was? Some of the accent and inflections on some of the phrasing reminded me of a computer programmed voice that can read text. I didn't recognize it as a familiar actress's voice, so I was wondering if that's what they did or if this was possibly a non-American voice actor because something about the voice just sounded strange to me.
