In every marriage one person is also more powerful (at least in the shallow way you seem to define the word), yet an imbalance in that type of power is inconsequential in a healthy relationship. Real power can take many forms. Like being able to raise the children and forming the emotional foundation of a family.
To say that it's not fair to a spouse if the other is more powerful (using your worldy view of it), is shallow, one dimensional, and sad. The types or relationships where spouses compete for recognition and glory are the most emotionally empty and meaningless of them all.
