This gets to something that Weiner doesn't seem to understand, which is that some of the women who flirted with him on Twitter were not good people. They had their own motives, even if Weiner might consider those motives to be childish and callously hurtful to his family. After he resigned from Congress, Weiner was a prominent national figure who planned to run for mayor of the country's largest city despite his humiliating scandal. That means it would have been huge national news if any sexts were made public, and that there would be lots of money and attention for any women who could successfully fish that out of Weiner.
