Best Documentary of 2016 (So Far)

I've seen many documentaries this year (including 10 of the 15 that were shortlisted for consideration for the Oscar's Best Documentary award), and I have to say "Kate Plays Christine" is the best and most emotionally affecting I've seen so far this year. It's a shame it wasn't shortlisted but nevertheless is highly recommended.

Someone asked whether this film is really a documentary, and the answer is yes. But it's not a straightforward documentary because there does not appear to be enough available information about Christine Chubbuck to support a full-length biography (the feature film "Christine" isn't a full biography either). So this film is actually a documentary about the quest to find more information on Chubbuck.

The reason that this film isn't readily visible on Kate Lyn Sheil's IMDB page is that she is credited as playing herself in this film. So it's not listed under her credits as an "Actress" but instead under "Self". I think that is an unfortunate crediting choice, because Sheil does indeed act in this film and I think it is her best work. One other clarification: When Sheil states in the film that she is preparing to portray Christine Chubbuck, she's not talking about another film. This documentary is in fact the film in which she is playing Chubbuck.
