I would say for two reasons. One, Vanderbilt came from a period and time before the world wallowed in trash and it was considered bad form to discuss anyone while they were alive. This was an unwritten rule for all the Golden era stars.

I mean, why the title when Anderson didn't really say anything about his life and how it related to his mother.

That was kind of nasty. What did you want? A lot of dirty laundry? Therapy? That's done in private, not for the entertainment of snarky people like you. Anderson was respectful of a 90 year old mother who'd done the best she could. If you have children, let's hope they don't blast you publicly about all your imperfections when you're old and frail.

Interesting, I wasn't even aware she had two other sons. I only ever heard about Anderson and Carter.
