Michael's appearance and how it changed

i watched the Off the Wall documentary on BBC2 last night. I have to say it made me miss Michael Jackson and the Jacksons. I was never a big fan of MJ but seeing the Jackson 5 and scenes from the Jackson 5 cartoon made me smile. I loved their songs and watching the cartoon when I was growing up and I never realized Off the Wall had so many great songs that were so innovative at the time. It also made me realize how much Michael influenced the music business and brought music by black musicians into the mainstream media. I didn't know Off the Wall had a song from Paul McCartney and Blame it on the Boogie was written by a guy from England. Great doc!

I thought however when I was watching the videos shot for the Off the Wall songs that MJ's appearance changed between the Wiz and the late 70s years in New York and the making of the Off the Wall album. It made me wonder- did he have his first nose job at this time? I saw his skin looked awful in one interview from Studio 54- was it acne or some of the skin problems he later said he suffered from? I would have liked a little discussion about how he changed his appearance when he launched himself as a solo artist. His appearance changed so much later on, I wondered if the rumours were true that he got his first nose operation after accidentally breaking his nose when he was on stage with the Jacksons.

Thanks. I'm reading a book about Michael Jackson now and it said before his first nose job in the 70s, his sister LaToya had her nose fixed, and he asked her to tell him if the operation hurt and how she felt afterwards.
