A strange but entertaining series

My personal rating is about a 5.5. It's okay as a cop show, but there is a lot of stuff that really bothers me. One is that it was hard to get invested in this show because pretty much every main character, cop and baddies, are not likable as people. The second main reason is I'm get annoyed at all the crime shows where the main detective character, in this case Marcella, breaks every legal rule in the book in order to crack the case. How does breaking the code of ethics all over the place make them a smarter cop? It takes it way past the point of suspending disbelief, and is fast becoming a cliche. I'd much rather see a truly clever detective work within the system to gain justice.
