This Show Is Great!

It's Sybil meets Alice Morgan, with moments of shocking terror.

I just finished Episode 7 and I hope to get through the finale soon. It's well-structured in that they introduced a lot of different characters, but they didn't develop them enough. It sort of relied on the fact that we've seen a bunch of shows like this so we know what to expect, as opposed to starting something from scratch.

The seventh episode was light on twists, but did give the sense no one is safe when all is said and done.

Wow, I honestly wish I could say the same. I thought it was one of the worst shows I've seen in years. Right from the start the plot was full of holes. The way Marcella walked back into the police force, right into the heart of an investigation, was a joke. Marcella and the Art school dropout masquerading as a detective were simply the LEAST convincing police detectives I've ever seen. Utterly unbelievable. With her furry collared parka and bobtail hair, Friel looked like she was bunking off school. Just about every character was one dimensional - miserable and dark and brooding and slightly psycho.

I hated the way that Marcella always picked on obscure clues and had to fight her ignorant colleagues who just couldn't see it. Suddenly going back to the CCTV a and noticing the shoulder injury? Oh god, the more I think about it the more pathetic it seems.

It was dross, real cack.

Another irritating trope is the cop who is totally unsuited to their job having the temerity to believe they have the God given right to continue in the profession. Particularly funny bits were Marcella realising she didn't murder her husband's lover and interfering with the crime scene actually scuppered the villain's dastardly plan. Oh, that's alright then, love. Do carry on with your meteoric career being a clear and present danger to the public (not to mention your own kids.) I guess as she's screwed over by men we're meant to keep rooting for her. Still, at least cop/killer being two sides of the same coin was startling original.

Thank God someone else sees this show for what it is, *beep* one of the most ridiculous productions of all time.Takes the deeply disturbed cop thing to all new hilarious levels. One is constantly left wondering who, what, why, where, for all the wrong reasons.I watched the finale to see if they could take it to unparalleled heights of absurdity,I was not disappointed.

I don't know what some of these folks on here are talking about ,but I thought the show was really good.Theres some really good quality shows coming out of Britain right now .When I watched the first episode I was hooked and binge watched the whole 8 episodes of the first season. Now I have to wait for the second season to come.I just might watch the whole first season again.

Hahaha I wanted to like it. I started to watch with my mom and I was so pissed off she was so into it when I thought it was a hell of messy series. I only liked Furiel's performance at points where her mental health was the focus.
