Well, she did come off as a weird person. :)
She seemed to be proud of her "100% error free reports." So, when Brady (sort of) said...I'll give you anything if you do this favor for me, I assumed that she's wanted a boat for awhile (but she couldn't easily afford one on her own). Then, when Brady asked "What kind of boat?" and the lab tech had to think about the answer, I realized "a boat" was a quirky answer that she didn't put a lot of forethought into.

It's a TV requisite...lab/computer techs **have** to be eccentric, weird, Goth, something strange. NCIS, Criminal Minds, NCIS New Orleans, Bones...nobody "normal" can work in a lab. It's a rule...
