The evolution of a curse...

There is a very disturbing scene at the end.. Cam struggles with the bodyguard chained to him as he tries desperately to get to Sophie quick enough to stop her from harming his mum only to get there and she says, 'You're too late'.. I really don't understand why the gun did not go off (she was an intruder inside the house with a weapon and had just killed 2 people - perfect grounds to defend oneself).. instead unbelievable questions poured out of Cam's mouth while Sophie tried her best to make sense of her crime.. It was like some silly game where Sophie chains the bodyguard to Cam and says, 'I will run down and kill your mum while you come after me to stop me from doing so.. let's see who wins'..

I was initially maddened at the scene as I have described above not because I was rooting for Madeline but I really hoped that her end would be to face the law for her crimes and be put away.. this is until it was revealed that Alison set the whole thing up.

One thing this show succeeded in really doing well is to show the unfolding of the SBK curse from the moment Madeline decided to get rid of his body without involving the cops. It is like a seed that was planted which grew to destroy everything in their family.

It's funny how Alison swore that she was not the same as her mum at that scene where they have a quarrel but she turns around to do EXACTLY what her mum would have done in her shoes.. The interview scene with her seemingly praising herself for the way she handled the whole thing is off-putting.. it was as if Madeline was being interviewed..

Madeline may be dead but the curse remains..
