According to Wikipedia, Buddymoon's "Theatrical release is scheduled for July 1." But both the-numbers.com and boxofficemojo don't list this movie on their weekend box office chart. There wasn't one movie theatre in all of North America willing to show this movie?
Low budget movies like these just don't get the marketing to do anything relevant at the box office. They'll make their money on VOD. I saw the trailer last night on Amazon and bought it (rental was a bit high at $6.99, so for $3 more I just ended up buying it).
In the LA Times review of the film it says it's playing at a theater there. The reviewer pretty much hated the film. Doesn't seem to get indie films or comedy so I'm not sure why they had him review it. I thought this was a great little indie comedy.
Thanks for your reviews, guys. The trailer made me feel 50/50 about seeing it. Maybe my library will get this one in a few months and I'll check it out based on your positive reviews.
