calling this a sequel? really?
23 years later and no one from the original cast? Just call it a reboot, or remake, or Hard Target: Whatever.
Putting a 2 after the title is just wrong.

Yeah i know...
Gonna watch cause of Scott Adkins, and the hotness of Rhona Mitra, but this movie has not much to do with Hard Target, its not even like John Woo directed it...
Alice is the worst character of all time, she need to die in the last movie. Chris/Jill are RE !!!
I was just ranting over what I think is a dumb title, I'm looking forward to it because of the cast. Adkins is a solid action guy, Mitra is great, I assume Knepper and Morrison are the villains which they should excel as. The wild card is the great Dudikoff. Will he be playing an Uncle Douvee type mentor or the main villain? I'm intrigued.
shareEh? 'Hard Target' means that their Target is hard to kill. Seems logical.
shareNo one gives A crap About at close range (that To me is A film With Sean Penn). So stop complaining.
shareThe Adkins film was called CLOSE RANGE, the Penn film was AT CLOSE RANGE.Get your facts right before mouthing off.
shareWhy did you bring up Close Range? No one claimed it was connected to the Penn film, what does it have to do with Hard Target?
shareThe only reason why they use titles like this, is because of recognition.
It will earn far more money with this title, than if it was called "Targetted" or som other lame name.
Anyways.. "Michael Dudikoff". Be surprised you see him for more than 5 minutes in the movie. He can barely be seen in most movies he is in.
They usually cast him only to get his name on the cover.
Dudikoff was never a martial arts guy ever, so don't expect him fight in this movie.
His "Martial Arts" in American Ninja is all fake.
I still like American Ninja.
I don't expect Dudikoff to do much more than a cameo, but will still be nice to see him, he was a B Movie King in the eighties/early nineties, and even over sixty he has value as a grizzled veteran.
shareThey're just keeping in consistant.
Bloodsport 2 (1996)
Bloodsport III (1996)
Bloodsport: The Dark Kumite (1999)
No Retreat, No Surrender 2: Raging Thunder (1987)
No Retreat, No Surrender 3: Blood Brothers (1990)
The King of the Kickboxers (1990) aka "No Retreat, No Surrender 4"
American Shaolin (1991) aka "No Retreat, No Surrender 5"
Kickboxer 2: The Road Back (1991)
Kickboxer 3: The Art of War (1992)
Kickboxer 4: The Aggressor (1994)
Kickboxer 5: The Redemption (1995)
Universal Soldier II: Brothers in Arms (1998)
Universal Soldier III: Unfinished Business (1999)
Cyborg 2: Glass Shadow (1993)
Timecop 2: The Berlin Decision (2003)
Just because it has consistency doesn't mean I have to like it. Yes there is a long history of direct to dvd "sequels." Some turn out to be pretty good, I hope this one is I'm looking forward to it whatever the title.

Aside from Kickboxer 5, most of those movies had something to do with the original, or were made in the same spirit. Hard Target 2 is a terrible kickboxing movie with only the most tenuous association with the John Woo original.
There is a man...he travels fast...he has purpose...he brings violence and destruction.

I would not even call it a film. let alone sequel .
I did not know that it was released yet, saw it in a local dhaba dinner, and felt sorry for the Rip off china made 10 rs DVD, and for the cast members and for the people of the world that will watch it cause of the first film.
Yeah I know. Hard Target: The New Hunt, or something like that would work better. But at least it's better than the trend of calling rebooted films for the same name as the original, so young moviegoers only know of the new worse ones. (Robocop, Total Recall, Ghostbusters. F off!)
