Good concept, but poor execution

The idea of getting lost in space on a planet trillions of miles away is compelling. But I think the execution was poor.

Instead of a realistic, tense suspenseful sci-fi show (as it should’ve been) — we see stuff about Oreo cookies, the red headed daughter who makes sarcastic jokes in nearly every scene, a guy carrying a pet chicken all over the planet, a little boy befriending a robot, and the distracting inclusion of a Black girl in a family of Caucasians.

If they’re trapped on a planet trillions of miles away, then where is the fear, the anguish, the loneliness, the feeling of hopelessness? None of that came out in the show because they decided to go all Disney-channel with the lighthearted stuff.
