God awful

Not sure why I watched this move. Hoped it'd get better. Mayim Bialik's character was an annoying bit@h. And she's just too flat out ugly to snag some cute guy. Geeze, get a nose job.

I can't defend this movie. I've yet to see a Lifetime movie that's wasn't written by a 10 year old. But I like Mayim Bialik - She's a beautiful woman. I don't know anything about who she really is, but I've never seen anything to suggest she's an "annoying bit@h".

Sincerely,
Some Cute Guy

reply

Well aren't you just delightful. Geeze, get a personality job.

reply

Yea I'm having a hard time buying this one. I can see a not so attractive woman getting a better looking guy but this one was to the extreme.

reply

She's hardly unattractive. And the actors have good chemistry.

reply

I liked their chemistry in the movie and I liked that she didn't look like the typical leading lady, but just wish they would have found someone a little bit prettier for the part. I know looks are subjective but I feel they went a little too far the other way with her.

reply

This might have worked better if they had acknowledged the disparity in their conventional attractiveness scale and worked it into the story. Just ignoring the situation stretched my suspension of disbelief to the breaking point. I couldn't concentrate on anything else! There was no growth or change in the characters. Nothing happened. If they had incorporated a little more She's out of my League or the Truth About Cats and Dogs, orNever Been Kissed, and taken advantage of Mayim's unconventional looks, It would have been a much more watchable film. Heck, it might have actually been good.

reply

I completely agree with you. The audience will not ignore their mismatch as far as looks, so the story should not have ignored it, either. Would have helped if "Stephanie" had had the sort of personality that was just right for this guy, instead of being cranky and complaining the whole time and him apparently finding this refreshing or something - ?

Sorry, I like both of the actors separately but together they've got nothing.

I have a feeling that this actor was cast as a "better-looking Sheldon Cooper - " tall and slightly nerdy but much more handsome. Maybe they figured that since Mayim has such great chemistry with Jim Parsons on Big Bang Theory, they could replicate that here with a guy that was a little more romance-hero handsome. Uh, no.

I noticed she wasn't wearing any makeup the entire movie. I think some eye shadow , mascara, blush, and lipstick might help her out a little. I saw her on the Blossom reunion last year and she had on makeup and it did make her look a little better.

reply

You've got to be kidding. The make up was slathered on!

reply

It is an unlikely pairing. As far as chemistry goes, I can't see it. JMHO

reply

Mayim Bialik is not ugly in the slightest. She's a bright young lady bringing her talent into characters to portray a scene and a meaning, so that people might learn something, or enjoy the moment, or both. She's beautiful.

You know what's ugly? Gang bangers. Child abusers. Concentration camp guards. Homicide bombers. Wife beaters. Corrupt judges. Rapist-murderer gangs operating this very minute in the middle east. Count about 2 minutes, yup, another innocent woman or child tortured, raped, killed.

That's what's ugly. Damn ugly.
