So, Dante becomes Pythagoras in this one

You probably remember (I mean, how could one forget!) that in "Se7en", Kevin Spacey's character commits his crimes to punish the 7 deadly sins, as described by Dante in his "Divine Comedy". And that at least in the initial crimes, he writes what sin is punished, somewhere in the crime scene. And the 2 detectives, played by Pitt and Freeman, try to solve the case and guess the killer's next move based on Dante's "Divine Comedy", too.

I haven't seen this one yet, but from what I read it takes the same idea, moves it in Athens and replaces Dante's deadly sins with quotes by Pythagoras. So, my question to those who have seen it: is it, at least, half as good as "Se7en"? Cause then, it's worth watching I guess!

Yes, I can say it is. Although it was a little too "heavy" for my taste and surely the director could unveil the plot in more smart and vivid ways at times, the overall story and the very good performance of Dadakaridis lift the movie into one of the best Greek films of the last couple of years.

Though the director surely drew inspiration from "Se7en", I won't compare it to that movie, not because they aren't similar but because it's not that fair for the Greek one.

Overall, it was a surprisingly good movie for a country that does not produce this kind of films. Go see it!

It draws inspiration from Se7en but is actually quite different in a lot of things as well that i won't mention for spoiler's sake.
It's well worth the watch.
I agree with pixel.

I understand how you could see some similarities, but this is its own film. Just because the antagonist takes inspiration from some historical figure, doesn't make this a Seven copy. I enjoyed the use of the amicable numbers and their relevance on the story and its characters. Dadakarides was also great as the lead character.

All in all, it was a very solid film. And for a country like Greece, who mostly produces comedies of questionable quality, this is a true gem. Worth seeing!
