Megan's Dad

Total dick vibes there. The kind of guy who is game to have fun once in a while with his "more challenging" daughter, but he doesn't really want to be involved with the hard stuff (i.e., actual parenting.

reply

Exactly. He wanted to get some "quality" time while the cameras were rolling, but as soon as they stop, he goes home to his "normal" family and "forgets" to show up to their next date. It's clear that megan was looking for some reassurance in regards to what would happen if her mother died when she asked, who would take care of her. The best answer, and the answer she was looking for, would have been for her father to immediately say, "I would, of course!" Instead, there's a long pause, followed by, "well, we all would."
Not good, dad. Fail. Clear douchebag

Yeah, I know someone like him. People like him (well, not every person like him) think that showing up on Christmas and birthdays, and buying a gift every once in a while is enough. They think taking their kid(s) to the movies twice a year or to an amusement part once a year is enough, but don't want to actually parent. They lie to the kid(s), cancel plans last minute without telling them, and basically deal with the kid(s) when it's convenient for them, not taking the child's feelings into consideration. And then they think they are a good parent because they bought the child a $6 toy or ice cream that made them happy.

I wonder if Megan's dad feels guilty for not being more involved in Megan's life when he had the chance.

I think he might be getting a bad rap, and his attitude might be how he was talked about in season 1. Things didn't end well with Megan's parents, and Kris can easily manipulate their daughter. Hence why he didn't acknowledge Kris because she painted him as a dead beat, from what I've seen online he is a bit more engaged then Kris wants America to believe

Source?

Well, this is reality TV, so it's certainly possible they are casting him as the bad guy/bad dad. But when she brought up what might happen to her if her mother died, he didn't immediately rush in to reassure her, which any parent with a heart to speak of would do. Instead there was this long pause and this very unenthusiastic response about how a bunch of people would be there for her.

Now, all that could have been editing -- maybe he really didn't pause, maybe they cut a bunch of stuff. But it didn't come across well, real or not.

What evidence, facts, source or knowledge of their personal lives do you have that would lead you to make this statement? I have seen every episode of this show and have not heard them bad mouth her father or even talk much about him. In fact, there was one episode where Megan was crying over her dad's lack of interest in her life and her mom said "your dad did the best that he could."

Well clearly he has NOT done the best he could and she was trying to defend him or spare her daughter's feelings. If Kris were intent on manipulating Megan then surely she would not be saying anything in his defense whatsoever.

Watching it a second time (you can watch it for the time being on A&E's website), Megan's dad looked a little hurt when Megan expressed not wanting to end up like her parents. Am I the only one who noticed this?

I noticed that too, it looked like it punched him right in the feels when she said that. I did feel a little bad for the guy :\ but I think he knew Megan wasn't intending on hurting him, she was just being honest.

He certainly came off as a complete tool.

Did anyone notice when they departed from the outing, the look he gave like he was perturbed? It almost sounded like he made a "TSK" sound, but it may have been the traffic. I rewound it several times, and it was hard to tell if it was really him or traffic noise. It wasn't even a "TSK" sound, but I can't think of another word for it. Kind of like when someone says "cheh," like the start of "geez."

His look was definitely there. My guess is there is definitely bad blood between him and Kris, which is news to none of us. Kris' looks when he was hugging and saying goodbye to Megan said it all too. I don't know if the show cut anymore words exchanged. (I imagine Kris chooses not to confront him in front of Megan.) The way they edited the end of the outing seemed like they wanted viewers to pick up on the tension. The dad'd look and possible "cheh" exclamation was strange.

I do think Kris has told the situation quite accurately in season one and now in two. She's been pretty tactful I've thought. That dad thinks doing rare outings with Megan somewhere far from his "real family" makes him a good dad. Yah right, dude.

reply

Yeah there is definitely bad blood between Kris and her ex-husband, but I don't think Kris bad-mouths him to Megan. She seems to be ok with them hanging out and encourages them to have a relationship. Physically, Megan has some gorgeous parents though!

I thought the same thing! I agree with all you said.

reply

Agreed. He seems totally uncomfortable with her and he doesn't say he misses her and he doesn't say "I love you too" or anything like that. The look on his face a few times was so cold that it almost seemed like he hates her or something. It was creepy.
