Can't wait to see Rachel get asked out!

Yay! Rachel is finally getting asked out on her first date next week! The great thing about it is that the guy seems just as excited about her as she is about him. That's what she has needed. She's always interested in guys who just want to be friends or who only kind of like her. I can't wait to see!

Me too! I love Rachel, she seems very kind. I am so intrigued by how honest all of the cast are with their emotions. It seems as though it may be from them having DS that they have much less of a filter & are much more open & honest about their feelings than "typicals" are, but this is probably one of the things I love most about them. Rachel is always so happy for her peers & doesn't show jealously the way Elena does (although yes, I understand Elena probably can't help her jealous behaviour & outbursts & I feel wrong for judging her for it, but it does tend to get under my skin a wee bit...) & Rachel truly deserves to have someone/something make her as happy as she is for others. I can't wait for next Tuesday & the next episode! :)

Yes, that's exactly what I love about Rachel! She has a lot of empathy for others and doesn't seem to get jealous of them. She's genuinely happy for her friends when good things happen to them. Whereas, many of the others' first instinct is to want what their friend has. They think of themselves first and others second. Rachel is the opposite -- just a pure soul.

I was surprised Rachel said "my first date." Didn't her mom say last season that Rachel had a couple boyfriends before? Maybe I'm remembering wrong. Maybe Rachel considers this a "first date" because all her other experiences resulted in the friendzone or no zone. Or maybe in the excitement she just meant "first date" with this new guy...?

Anyways, I think it's awesome. I'd be surprised if it really was her first time getting asked out romantically just because she's so cool and does seem to be in social situations that should have offerred dating in the past 10+ years of her adult life. Rachel is one of my faves of the show. For someone so thoughtful for others, happy when good things happen to her friends, as well as how sharp she is, she is most deserving of a nice romance!

I know, I'm so excited for her! She's such a sweetheart and is so caring and kind, I really hope it goes well for her. I can't wait to see it.

I loved Frank! I hope we see Rachel and him go out more.

I think Frank was put there specifically for Rachel... to hand her the medal and go approach/talk to her after. You know what, I'm totally ok with that. Even if the show planted the seed those two had genuine, raw emotions and we're adorable !!!

reply

Yes. It seemed entirely set up. But that's the nature of "reality" TV.

When talking about dancing, I like how Frank said his father (or was it his grandfather?) would say he really knows how to cut some rug.

Rachel wasn't familiar with the expression, but it was kind of funny.

reply

It was completely set up to go with the storyline. Total nonsense. But I hope they at least had some fun, beyond the reality show setup.

reply

Set up !! That was the phrase I was looking for !! Total set up but who cares bc it brought genuine smiles and happiness ... ice cream and Hollywood tour us an awesome date too !! I hope she gets more confidence !! I enjoyed watching it !! I'm surprised she didn't tell Frank she likes to twerk!

reply

I told my teenage daughter it was funny that Rachel didn't know the expression "cutting a rug," but she also gave me a blank look. I was surprised that she didn't know either. It must be an old fuddy-duddy thing to say.

reply

I think I learned it from old Bugs Bunny cartoons.
