Was the dad cheating on his wife?

When he's banging the women in the car, that isn't his wife correct? The daughter catches him and he later sees the same women in a bar being cozy with some other man and seems to be jealous.

Couldn't his sin be that he was unfaithful to his wife?

reply

I thought it was his wife. I don't even remember the bar scene.

If it wasn't and he was cheating, that probably wasn't his sin- at least directly. It would tie in to how he was being somewhat neglectful, which allowed the daughter to fall victim to the Japanese Man.

No that was his wife. He's eating breakfast, his wife is doing the laundry and making sexual gestures, he bangs her out in the car, the daughter sees. The woman he sees later in the bar is a villager that dies later in the film. The lady in white is wearing her sweater later.

reply

are you sure it was his wife? Why does his daughter say "I won't tell."?

reply

100%
I've seen it a few times now, screen-shot the scene before the sex and an image of his wife from a different scene and it's they are the same person.

reply

It wouldn't make sense for it to be someone else anyway, as the person was doing laundry in their own yard. lol.

It is odd though how nonchalant she acts when the daughter catches them. If anything, she looks just a little annoyed, whereas the Father reacts like most people would.

the subtitles on my version had it as "I thought husbands lasted hours" -- implying that she wasn't his wife and had an affair. did your copy have a similar translation?

reply

If memory serves, the translation I got was more along the line of 'men your age'.

In the version I watched she says (in subtitles) something along the lines that "Don't worry, I heard from other ladies that even 70-year old men can still get it up" (implying that he has issues, probably because of all the stress). And he replies: "Then you should get me one of those herbal drinks".

reply

The subs on my version were a little different, it was like the wife was saying that he takes too long and he says "you should get me a tonic" or something like that.

reply

Yeah. I don't think its the wife. I noticed the woman he was banging was prettier than his wife looks.

And again, why should the daughter say "I won't tell" if that was indeed his wife.

And if it was his wife, shouldn't she have been more upset too about their daughter seeing them having sex.

Its unfortunate that most of you can't make out faces well...I probably wouldn't understand either if i wasnt a kpop fan... but the woman he had sex with in car was his own wife... he was ashamed his daughter saw them doing it... thats all..

reply

Note the wife is wearing the same outfit in both the laundry and the car-play scene.

reply

It's his wife that he has set with in the car.

He notices the woman in the bar because she had the strange rash - also she is wearing the sweater that the ghost woman is wearing at the end.
