I agree. they also stumbled around and illegally searched the guy's house, so they would have no hope of arresting him even though they found a damn shrine full of the murder victims' photos and belongings.
Ultimately, it ruined the movie for me. The constant bumbling and simpering from the hero and his buddies realy got on my nerves. By the time things started to get serious in the final 30 minutes, I no longer cared. It's too bad because there were some good bits sprinkled throughout the movie. I wanted to like it, but ultimately I found it a rather bloated, imperfect mess with a frustratingly inconsistent tone.
The moment I'd had enough was when the herbalist got struck by lightning. That was about 42 minutes into the movie. (I checked then to see how much was left... almost 2 hours, ugh.) That was basically one dumb scene too many for me. The movie never recovered from that point on, for me anyway.
A lot of strange things happen in this world. Things you don't know about in Grand Rapids.
Goodness. Could have done with a tighter cut. Not that it would have changed things that much, considering the lead bumbled and simpered the entire way through. Completely agree
I genuinely thought he'd start out like that, and show growth, maturity and awareness as things got more grave.. but yeah... lol.. that was not to be.
So like you, i found myself going through the motions hoping for the damned thing to just end already.
