50-year-old Brooke Shields is going to play 27-year-old Abby Cooper? Unbelievable! I could see her playing a 40-year-old; maybe even a 35-year-old, although that's stretching it. I've read every one of the Flower Shop Mysteries. Not only is she too old, she is too tall (Abby is short and busty) and does not have red hair like Abby. I am totally aghast! Why didn't the author put her foot down?

I'm with you. The further I get into the series, the more I'm convinced that Brooke Shields would deserve an Emmy or Oscar for even half convincing us she's Abby Knight. Too tall. Wrong Hair. Old enough to be Abby's mother, not even an older sister, of which Abby doesn't have one. Money is why the author didn't put her foot down. Brooke Shields will draw to those who have not read the series. She will have to pull off flighty and flippant off big time. Abby Knight is definitely not a role for a "mature" actress.

They changed a lot for the movies. Made her a widow with a child. And physically very different. I don't have this channel so I have not watched it.

No offence to Brooke Shields but as a huge fan of the book series I think she is all wrong!! I really don't like the other changes they've made either such as being a widow, teenage daughter, no Mrs Cooper and no Gillian, not to mention her 'co-worker/best friend' setup. In fact if it wasn't for the flower shop and the names of the main characters I wouldn't recognise it as the same story. It appears that Kate Collins was so happy that her books were developed for TV that she let the programme makers do whatever they wanted, I really hope that wasn't the case😢😞😞.

I suspect the producers don't take into consideration those that have read the books and are banking on drawing in viewers by use of a well-known actress.

I recall from Army Wives (2007) that Shields is 6 feet tall. I noticed many of the actors in this are her height or taller, so perhaps the are trying to play down her height.

I haven't read the series, but I am so tired of Hallmark paring up actresses over 50 with Men 10 years younger.I mean, Brooke Shields looks great and can deliver a line, but she'd look even better with an age-appropriate guy. Hallmark will do simply anything to give these older actresses some work. Then they have to slather on the make up a la a Beauty Pageant to disguise their age (which only makes them look older!). I feel for fans of the book to have their heroine completely made over, but it's worse when they have the 52 year old Nicolette Sheridan the mother of 1st or 2nd graders, as they did in another recent Hallmark offering.
