Fair enough.
I also noticed the sweet girl act, and at times wondered why she was the main character when she's not really doing anything to merit such a status. The absence of backstory was telling but it never crossed my mind to think she was the villain of the story.
The whole point: On the surface, she should be the angel, heroine. She looks like a Nordic goddess and came from a good family and caring parents. While her black "opposite" was a homely, negress with a horrible home life with a POS mom. Yet, look who ended up "good" and "bad". People make choices. Evil can confiscate anyone.
