But the leading lady was pretty bland. Pretty but bland.

"A man's kiss is his signature" -- Mae West

I agree, I'm watching right now. Her acting is so stifled and uncomfortable to watch. Amazed she snagged a leading lady role, seems like she needs a few more years honing her craft under her belt!

Shes actually a really good actress in the other stuff she's done like 90210 and some other movies. I really think its the hallmark movie. Every known actor I've seen in hallmark movies takes about 10 steps back in their acting. I really wonder what the directors are telling them to do to make them so bad.

reply

I thought she did fine. Better than some of the other lead actresses in hallmark movies. Agree she's better in other stuff she's done though.

reply

I can't act, so who am I to judge? I just say, they did better then I would do.

reply

I was going to say the same thing. The only actresses I would say that were exceptions to that are Lacey Chabert and Autumn Reeser. I think it's because they're both extremely bubbly in real life, so it kind of just flows into their bubbly characters in the movies. I've been watching the Christmas movies on Lifetime and Hallmark for the past five years or so and Hallmark definitely seems to strip down the chemistry between the two leads in all their movies. Sometimes it's uncomfortable to watch an actor or actress that you've seen in other movies and shows seem like a bad actor or actress in these Christmas movies. I'll still continue to watch them because I like these cheesy Christmas movies. I wouldn't watch them if I didn't, haha. I've been a little annoyed by a lot of the endings and the "big kiss" in most of the movies this year. The endings have been odd or rushed and the big kiss scenes have been lacking chemistry. I think you're right about the directors making them seem stiff. It's like they force it to the point that it's not believable.

I agree. I actually don't know if I can finish this movie. I'm half way through, and I might have to start fast-forwarding. She is so impossibly gorgeous its like she is some computer program that took the best features from 10 actress and put them all together in one face. However her acting is very stilted: it's like she doesn't wast to disarrange her face enough to show some emotion or humor or inner spark. She is not moving her mouth. Add to this, the banal plot and the impossibly smug hero, it's one of the worst of the batch this year. Not exactly a love for the ages for losing each other after that year for no reason. And apparently she is just going to shrug it off. I hope we get some more background on that.

I didn't mind the lead actress so much. I thought she was just unsure how to act alongside an ex while wanting to further her own career. Eddie was hard for me to root for. He has this "news" to tell his girlfriend. Most folks would think a proposal is coming. It turns out that he's going to grad school overseas, and thinks they can continue their relationship next year (or basically when it's convenient for him). TEN years later he's back in the picture, and gets annoyed that she's cold toward him in the beginning and seeing someone else. What did he expect, for her to run back into his arms that easily? If I ran into an ex ten years later, I'd expect things to be different; after all people can move around, marry, and even have kids within ten years. If it turned out there were otherwise still feelings there, great, but I wouldn't be expecting all that will happen.

reply

Good point. But I still can't her.

I only sat through watching the film because I am a big fan of Jessica Lowndes. I felt like this movie was just ok. Everyone looked nice and was attractive enough, but in my opinion the leads did not have romantic/sensual chemistry.

reply

I like Jessica and she is a decent enough actress but this wasn't her best role. However, the lead actor was much worse. Wooden beyond belief! No wonder there was zero chemistry.

reply

He was very likable in "Midnight Masquerade" with Autumn Reeser.

reply

Ok, haven't seen him in anything else so he may well be better in other roles.

EDIT: Have just checked out a little of 'Midnight Masquerade' and you are right, he is much more animated and likeable there. Hard to believe it's even the same actor.

reply

i'm glad you enjoyed it. He was really different in Midnight Masquerade. The fact that he was so kind and nice and taken advantage of by the two brothers, yet so big and handsome was really appealing. I loved the way the two baddies got their comeuppance.

reply

Agreed. He also had much better chemistry with his leading lady!

reply

Where did you see it? I've been looking in all the usual places and can't find it.

reply

Youtube, though it seems to have disappeared now. Here is part of it.

I'm in London and neither of these movies have been shown over here, so had to watch online. I watched 'Merry Matrimony' on youtube as well. It was uploaded twice but both of those have also been taken down.

reply

thanks! Looks like it's up again. I always forget about youtube!

reply

Oh, it's the only place I trust. Other links usually just try and give me viruses lol.
