Berlin Station not offered in Spy Central...

... why not?

Why isn't Berlin Station available for viewers in the Washington, DC tri-state area? A.real.question.

Not sure I understand the query.

It's on EPIX network which is available nationally on various cable outlets as well as through ROKU with a subscription to EPIX. And various other outlets not so official, am sure...

No. Berlin Station or the EPIX network is not available in the DC/MD/VA tri-state area. We have Comcast for our cable/TV/Internet and that's not a provider listed. I contacted EPIX and they said EPIX is not available in my area. How weird is that? We're an area that's highly populated so it's perplexing.

Ah, sorry. See what you mean. Comcast specifically.

I told a friend in the South about it and she has some Verizon tv thing. She has EPIX as an option, but only as a premium extra-pay channel.

So it does seem some cable companies offer Epix and some don't. I ditched Comcast about 7 years ago in favor of ROKU and other a la carte programs (though which I got a free trial on EPIX). So did not realize the DC-VA-MD area's Comcast didn't have EPIX.

Some Wash-area folks might actually see some things they'd find a bit uncomfortably familiar in B.S. haha

That Langley crowed--geesh. Was at a Christmas party at a house that as the crow flies is probably 2 miles tops from Langley. Not a bloody single phone signal at that guy's house. Nada. It was the quietest, nicest party I went to over the entire season! :-)))))

It's frustrating but there's a lot other stuff to watch. Richard is a good spy because I saw him in MI-5, which is incredible. And a show I wish went on and on as it was one of the smartest, coolest, best-acted shows ever created by the BBC, but then they care and WANT their stuff seen. I think not allowing an area rights to see it because you couldn't land a deal with a mega cable/TV/Internet provider might hurt it in the long run. I find it odd it's not offered on Amazon or by DVD. Something seems off about all this, but, like I said, there are tons of other things to see that want to be seen, apparently Berlin Station and EPIX couldn't land Comcast for some reason. Oh well. And out of this came me finding Richard's Audible books to listen to! ;) I'll see it eventually. Heck, I should try YouTube! But it is WEIRD beyond measure for certain! Thanks for everyone's input. But "Shaw" IMO is an inside job/mole. I like these actors. She, forget her name, no so much, she's out of her depth and in with a league beyond her skills... and it shows.

ETA: For what it's worth here's this update. I saw S1E1-2 at Amazon. I'm just tuning in to see S1E3---throughout on, wait for it, YouTube! I'm glad I checked... this just made my vacation week so much more interesting!

That's good news that it's getting out there!

Seem to recall that as a promotional effort, EPIX put the first two episodes of BS out on YouTube for a few weeks prior to premiering it. That may happen with other shows, but that was the first time I'd seen a premium station put two episodes up on purpose on YouTube as an advertisement.

The whole marketing thing with this show has been odd. But at least it's on a premium station and can be a "mature" show that can show things that aren't as savory as the cleansed botoxed up everybody has perfect hair stations like ABC/NBC/CBS have to be (not that I've watched them for about 20 years anyway, ha).

So at least BS is on cable, even if it's trying to hide there! haha

Have not yet gotten over reeling from the disappointment that Da Man John Corey from the Nelson DeMille series of books is coming to television--ABC. Total disaster.

Made me want to throw up. Irreverent, cheeky, profane John Corey? The brash, un-PC (who brought un-PC to a high art) ex-NYC homicide detective turned terrorist hunter man himself? Where is a decent cable network when you need them?

An utterly bottom feeder commercial ridden network shackled by the world of PC for the masses trying to bring legendary John Corey to life is dead on arrival in my books.

God, what a crying shame.

IKR, nothing 'good' 'deep' 'complicated' or 'complex' should be allowed on national TV. JK of course, but I feel ya. It seems to me 'regular' TV just like the film industry has been its own worst enemy. People what more character development than the 2-hour time-frame. And they want more of those characters.

Something I found by way of watching "Mental" was "Transporter: The Series" starring the same guy with his same soulfulness, Chirs Vance. It's action-packed, full of car chases through France, Italy, etc, then over to the US in Toronto. He has his Rules: never change the deal; no names; don't open the package. Of course, things get dicey. It's no "Berlin Station" but well-done enough to entertain. I recommend it.

BUT I got through "Berlin Station" and must say it was very well done. All i's and t's crossed. A good unended ending leaving us wondering who truly was Thomas Shaw other than, well, you know, a boat.

They did the same thing to Rake (AU) by putting it "over the air" in the US remake. It was like watching The Sopranos on the Christian Broadcasting Network. I hear that a US OTA network is doing a remake of Upper Middle Bogan, my second favorite AU show. That tells me the phrase " swair ja, Amba" (swear jar, Amber) will not make an appearance. BTW, the level of the jar was always changing as a background visual joke.

I'll match any un-PC character with Cleaver Green (Rake) in my corner.

Hey, thanks! I must not have gotten this notification or it was mixed in with others and I overlooked it. I appreciate adding to my 'must see' list. One chap on here mentioned a few and they've turned out to be exceptional. I just love how this works out with 'the universe' providing, and all that jazz.
