I find it amazing ..

that someone is stuck in prison because of a coerced confession of a crime that doesn't even match the evidence.

There was no physical evidence that anyone other than Steven had been in his bedroom. There was no physical evidence that anyone was naked and bleeding on his mattress. There was no physical evidence of any of the victim's "cut hair" was anywhere in the house.

They told them they knew what happened and told him he was in trouble if he didn't guess what happened. It's obvious he is making up answers until they say he got it right.

Between watching this series and the upcoming election, it really wants to make you research better places to live.

Sadly, their have been injustices and miscarriages of justice in every state in the country. Sadly, they aren't few and far between. They happen too often. The poor, the uneducated and minorities are the most common recipients. I just finished watching season I. I agree with you about the injustice of charging and convicting Brendon. It was really unconscionable what the police did, taking a disadvantaged child, interrogating him for hours without a parent or counsel with him and brow-beating him as they did for hours, coercing him into saying what he did. The first public defender and his "investigator" were despicable too...working for the benefit of the prosecution at their client's expense. I am shocked the jurors watching the video of Brendon's interrogation failed to see how this vulnerable boy was railroaded by the police. Shame on all of them!

The uneducated? You mean the people who get free 13 years of education on paid for with taxes but refused to pay any attention? It's not like people don't have opportunities and resources. It's not a secret that cops can lie to you and you can stop an interrogation at any time and they have to charge you or let you go. Just because some people choose to lay around and watch wrestling over reading a book once in a while, it's not like books were denied to him. Brandon's mom also let him be interrogated or else it would have been thrown out. But learning and working hard is hard and the Averys got by on mimimal life effort until something bad came up.
