I'm surprised there was no love interest for her, being how cheesy these Hallmark movies can be, and being that she is raising a child by herself--a child who was one of the main characters.

I get the movie wasn't about her, but they could have made her meet a guy and make a date or something before the end.

I didn't like to see the sister playing gooseberry towards the end. I suppose that she was dedicated to her daughter so she shunned romance for herself.
