Zero story progression. First episode, find Geralt. Last episode, Geralt found. Fluff in between. It just seemed like the "how can we get Yennefer topless" show.
Don't get me wrong. It was entertaining, and I liked the characters, but absolutely NOTHING transpired to justify 8 episodes.
Her Yennefer is too angry, even her "old" version. Haven't read the books but games' Yennefer was more calm, calculated.
I guess it's not her fault, more a directorial choice than acting, i suppose. But yeah, i guess she could have done a better job under a different director.
She is a complicated person in the books and not always a sympathetic character.
I also think the series made an unforgivable amendment to her story with Geralt. They at the very least implied that his "Last Wish" was to have sex with her or to have her fall in love with him - something like that.
In fact what he did was: he tied his destiny to hers. As she says in the book: "You condemned yourself to me". So it's not, you know, women empowerment or a #metoo moment. He does this first and foremost to make sure the jinn can't hurt her. It is a sacrifice not mind-rape.
