Looks like it could be good, a shame Kevin Spacey will probably keep people away

The film wrapped in early 2016 and then went back for reshoots the same year. But is only now, in mid-2018, being released to theaters.

It was weird to see Kevin Spacey. I bet they wish they had worked a little faster and got it out before the scandal.

I just saw it. It's ok. Nothing remarkable. Actually, the only thing remarkable about it is how historically inaccurate it is. They paint Joe "Hunt" as an innocent kid who got in over his head. When in reality he had been a grifter/liar long before the BBC. And Hunt was not his real last name. He was essentially a sociopath.

I know nothing of the true story, so historical accuracy is not really a concern of mine. As long as it's an entertaining movie I'll enjoy it.

I have heard it called "this year's Wolf of Wall Street" and I typically enjoy movies that deal with finance and sales like Wolf, Boiler Room, Glengarry Glen Ross, and Wall Street, so I am hoping for the best.

reply

All much better movies than this one.

reply

I wouldn't call this a an entertaining movie. The 1987 version was.

I did get around to watching it and it pretty much sucked. I struggled to even finish it.

you, sir, are correct

Will Spacey keep people away?

It might be the last movie you get to see him acting in.

reply

Apparently he has another film in post-production right now called Gore, where he plays Gore Vidal. That's the last one listed on IMDB right now.

It will be interesting to see what happens to his career and whether or not he makes a comeback after things cool down for him.

I tried to watch this mostly because of Spacey. I didn't manage to finish though but it wasn't Spacey's fault.
