Because apparently they have run out of old movies to remake so now they are remaking old TV movies... Even more incestuous when realize that Judd Nelson is apparently playing the dad of the character that he placed the son of in the original TV movie.

Frankly I'm kind of shocked they would remake this one... the only good thing really about the original movie was some of the music.
