It turns out that at least 3 of the lead actors are lgbtq - at least, likely meaning that there are 4. That's half of the leads - or is it more than half? Think about it for a minute.
Usually when that happens, it's due to some higher ups being lgbtq as well - casting director? or someone higher?
I wonder if the writer is also from that segment of the population.
